PSA BDP has committed to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), a pivotal milestone in its journey towards setting emissions reduction targets.
Formed following PSA International’s acquisition of BDP International in 2022, PSA BDP has firmly established itself as a leading provider of globally-integrated and port-centric supply chain, transportation and logistics solutions, serving numerous multinational customers.
It’s also an organisation laser-focused on sustainability, as demonstrated by the launch of its Carbon Dashboard data service earlier this year.
Now, PSA BDP has confirmed its formal commitment to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), a pivotal milestone in its journey towards setting ambitious emissions reduction targets.

Setting emissions reduction targets
PSA BDP serves customers across diverse industry verticals, providing a wide range of services including: 4PL solutions; ocean, air, rail and road transportation; export freight forwarding; import customs clearance and regulatory compliance; contract logistics; warehousing; and supply chain visibility and predictive ETA tracking through technology
With at least 98% of PSA BDP’s emissions derived from freight transportation, its commitment to setting near-term and long-term science-based emissions reduction targets – in accordance with SBTi’s net-zero standard – will help customers achieve their own reduction targets.
The process will begin with an external audit, aligned with the ISO 14064 standard for greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting. Due to be completed within a few months, this comprehensive audit underscores PSA BDP’s commitment to environmental accountability and transparency in its GHG reporting practices.
Upon completion, the firm will set its existing Scope 1 and Scope 2 targets through the SBTi methodology, before setting Scope 3 targets with a view to having them in place by the end of 2025.
These objectives will include both near-term goals, such as those set for 2030 or 2035, and ambitious long-term goals aiming for net zero by 2050.

What is PSA BDP’s Carbon Dashboard?
For PSA BDP, emissions reduction equates to assisting customers in reducing emissions from freight movement – whether by air, land or sea – and is the goal of PSA BDP’s own Freight Decarbonisation Framework.
This approach begins with enhanced data collection through the Carbon Dashboard, which equips shippers with a tool to measure freight carbon emissions accurately using an industry-leading methodology, enabling them to achieve sustainability targets more effectively.
By offering detailed data on emissions across various transportation modes, including pre- and post-carriage, the Carbon Dashboard empowers customers to make informed decisions that further support sustainable shipping.
GHG calculations are powered by the EcoTransIT World emissions calculator, which supports the ISO 14083 standard and complies with the provisions of the Global Logistics Emissions Council (GLEC) Framework, the industry-standard methodology.
The dashboard also offers insight into designing a more efficient logistics process through individual freight lane and carrier analysis, as well as the ability to track the fill rate of containers, a critical KPI.
This shows the relationship between changes in tonnes/TEU and CO2e intensity, thereby providing a more holistic view of cost that can in turn, help drive operational savings.
