Galaxy AI reaches 4.5 million UK devices as 42% of iOS users switch to Samsung, with usage data showing strong adoption of translation and health features.
Samsung Electronic has experienced market share gains, following the rollout of its Galaxy AI features. In total, it finds that iOS users are switching to Samsung devices at a rate that is 42% higher than in 2023. This is just in the first twelve weeks of Galaxy AI launching.
Usage data indicates high engagement, with 84% of Samsung S24 and foldable device owners utilising AI features within the past month. Nearly one year on from Galaxy AI’s launch, consumers are using AI to boost productivity, improve communication and revamp their photographs.
The company’s AI features, which include machine learning-powered tools for search, translation and photo editing, are now available across 4.5 million mobile devices in the UK market, spanning 26 different models including the Galaxy S24 series, S23 series and foldable devices.

In 2024, Samsung found that Circle to Search and Photo Assist are the top two features among Samsung users.
Remaining competitive in a market driven by AI
Samsung users are starting to embrace AI even further. The telco’s research indicates that 60% of consumers now consider AI features as a key factor in smartphone selection.
Likewise, 45% cite productivity gains as their primary motivation to free them up for more exciting, or complex, tasks. This shift in consumer preferences comes as smartphone manufacturers compete to differentiate their devices through software capabilities rather than hardware specifications.
Once users find the most useful AI feature for them, it is being used time and time again. According to Samsung, Interpreter is used 15 times per month, roughly every other day, by individual users in need of translation assistance. The app works by translating in-person conversations in real-time via the phone’s microphone.
Furthermore, health tracking has also seen a spike since the start of 2024. Samsung’s Women’s Health feature, which allows users to record and track menstrual cycles and track fertility, has also seen a spike in traffic – increasing by 43% over the course of the year.
More broadly, Samsung Health now receives 2.82 million monthly active users, while the use of ‘Daily Activity’ summary has increased 126% since the start of 2024.
“AI will only be a success if we put it in the hands of everyone and integrate it with our everyday life, so we can’t ringfence the technology. Whether it’s nudging you to book that overdue doctor’s appointment, tracking your sleep patterns or recognising when your body needs a break, AI should be there to help you juggle life’s demands, at your own pace,” explains Annika Bizon, Marketing and Omnichannel Director (MX Division) and Head of Ireland at Samsung UK.
Offering groundbreaking improvements
Samsung is looking to expand its AI feature set through a range of software updates. Its latest rollout of One UI 7 Beta will continue to drive groundbreaking improvements in device software, whilst delivering AI features that free up time for users to spend time on the things they care about.
KEY FACTS
- Galaxy AI’s Photo Assist takes photo editing to the next level allowing users to resize and reposition photos, as well as removing photo bombers.
- Galaxy AI’s Sketch to Image feature allows users to sketch directly onto an existing image, as well as draw their own content.
- Samsung’s Chat Assist curates smart replies and offers live translations, tonal suggestions and transcriptions in 20 languages.
- Circle to Search with Google – Samsung’s most used feature – speeds up internet searches without the need to type out the enquiry.
- The advanced search capabilities of Circle to Search also offer step-by-step instructions for solving complex math problems.
- Now Bar, available as part of the One UI 7 Beta, gives instant access to important notifications from the device’s lock screen – reducing the need to constantly unlock the phone.
- Galaxy AI offers advanced writing assist tools, with AI-powered content summarising, spelling and grammar checks, and notes formatting.
The software update strategy demonstrates Samsung’s commitment to extending AI capabilities to existing devices, rather than limiting features to new hardware releases. Such an approach contrasts with traditional upgrade cycles that often require hardware replacement to access new features.
Annikia adds: “We’re proud to be paving the way for this next stage of AI accessibility, with millions of Galaxy users already accessing the latest AI capabilities in the palms of their hands.”
